Yippee! Comments working again.
EOM.
well, sheeeeeeeiit!
Ok, so my comments don’t work.
Gah!!
They worked before, wtf? I just click submit and the stupid page reloads, but doesn’t post what I typed. Grrr.
Gonna go scour the forums at pmachine to see if I can dig up a resolution to this.
what an utter failure…
I turned guest posting off. Only one person participated, and I left the dang thing on for nearly four days.
Guess everyone is too busy. Oh well.
Off to eat some yogurt and play some Sims 2.
guest post extravaganza…
Okay, I see several other bloggers doing this, and while I probably don’t have a whole helluva lot of readers, I figured I’d jump on this bandwagon and give it a spin… to test just how many people do read my drivel.
So, I’m handing over the reins, so to speak, to anyone who wants to post here.
Login info in extended entry.
more progress…
The comments should now match each of their parent skins, and no longer have sidebars.
Yay!
I just created new variables in the cookiecheck file and gave the comments page its own set of headers & footers, and presto-chango!
I also cleaned up the CSS file for the dragon skin. In doing so, I also eliminated the stepping-stone pattern in the side bar, it’s just easier to keep it in a straight column.
I’ve only tested this in Netscape, so let me know if anything looks really funky.
It’s almost time to go home, and enjoy a real two-day weekend! (the LYS is closed on Monday)
Have a safe holiday!
let the head-banging commence…
And I don’t mean partying. 😡
I’m trying to get my pink skin working, but for whatever reason, the skin on my main page isn’t putting the sidebar on the right like it should.
However, when I take the content in the header file, the index template, and the footer file, and slap them together in a test template… It renders just fine!!
WTF??
For some reason ‘pink’ is choking on one particular piece of css, because when I comment that tag out, it formats correctly (the layout), but without the “special” text formatting…
So, unless someone has a suggestion, I’ve printed out three different CSS files… the one for the first three styles (light, dark & blue), one for the “original” layout when I first implemented EE (because I noticed some tags being called up in the template that don’t have identifiers in my CSS), and the one for the “broken” pink layout. I figure if I try to make everything “common”, maybe I can get pink fixed without too much frustrtation. Or I could just go insane.
Feh. We’ll see how much cross-referencing I can take.
skinning is fun!
I did some more tweaking, and was able to add the Dragon skin into the rotation. 😊
Will also work on adding my pretty pink flower skin from MT into this, too.
Once I get the hang of this more, I’ll create an actual page where you can go to “try out” the skins rather than just having the drop down box…
eta: the comments in the dragon still isn’t matching yet… will work on that later.
the Prismatic Dragon’s blog… now with skinning! (sorta)
Well, so far it looks like it is working. It may be a touch slow, as I had to add some php to make cookies stick, but I wasn’t sure where to put it in my template… so I have it set above the HTML, HEAD & BODY tags. It probably doesn’t belong in that spot, but I didn’t know where else to place it.
Anyway.. now I need to change the templates for my categories & archives, and comments.
Carry on.
pardon my mess…
Ok, I’m going to attempt to implement real skinning here in a few seconds.
The kind that even IE can handle. 😊
skin-tastic!
Ok, I really wanted to test out skinning, so I’m about to switch over to a choice of three skins.
Very basic, and there is minimal graphics, and it’s mostly CSS. So if you’re still in the dark ages and using a browser that chokes on CSS, this will very likely look like crap to you. So get with the times!
Anyway… Until I figure out how to implement more graphics, the dragon skin will be shelved for a period of time.
Let me know if anything is broken, and if the comments, archives and whatnot still look to the old skin, I’m working on that, too.
ETA:Ok, I realize it’s not working (at least in IE).. It works for Netscape 7.2 for me… Looking into why it’s not working otherwise. Hmm.
