@#(*&@#$& termites!!!

AGAIN!  Can you believe this shit??

I guess we should have expected it this time, considering our neighbors were just treated for termites last week.  I guess the little shits had to go somewhere.

What peeves me off even more is the fact that our original contract we got when the house was built, was for five years, and it just expired on the 9th.

Of this month.

@#$&*#@$&^*#^&!!!

So, someone is coming out next Friday for an inspection.  And then they decide whether to be kind and do one last treatment for free since we’ve already had them come out TWICE in the last five years to treat for termites, or if they’re going to be greedy and squeeze a couple hundred dollars out of us to renew our contract.

My guess is they’ll go for the

jugluar

money.

Anyway… What annoys me the most is the fact that the outside walls of our house are make of brick.  But these fuckers are getting in through the roof, at the eaves, since those are still wood, then snuggling up in the 2x4’s on the inside of the walls.  Grrr.  Stupid bugs.

spam bomber

Thursday, July 01, 2004

I’m glad I was at my computer when I started getting comments on an old entry in MT…

I got eight, count ‘em, EIGHT comment spams on one entry in the span of two minutes!!  Spam-bot, most definitely.  I think if I hadn’t been here to block the IP I probably would have logged in to see several more comment spams than that, I’m sure.

Methinks it’s time to make that directory password protected.  Ayup.

For those still using MT and have MT-Blacklist installed… here is that IP:

lesson learned… the hard way…

Tuesday, June 22, 2004

I have a credit card with Target that, at one time was strictly a Target department store card… It eventually was converted to a Visa card.

We don’t use it very often, and I pay the bill online, so I don’t check the statement as much as I should.

Big mistake.

I discovered a recurring charge for Auctionwatch.com (now Vendio), and looked into it. I didn’t recall signing up for their services.  I looked back through all of my e-mail over the last four months, and couldn’t find any “welcome to Vendio” or e-mails of the like.  The first charge was on February 21st.  (this was the week before our wedding, so anything to do with auctions was the last thing on my mind!)

I contacted Vendio on Sunday, letting them know I needed their help determining whether I had an account with them and just didn’t remember the login information, or if it was an unauthorized account…  I had to leave voice mail since they’re only open Monday through Friday.

Someone returned my call today.  Prompted by my call, they had determined that the account was unauthorized and had shut it off.  I was told in order to dispute the charges I would need to contact my credit card company, who would in turn contact them to dispute the charges.

So I called Target.  Their policy is to dispute up to 90 days of unauthorized charges.  Which means I’m stuck with the first charge of $50.94, because I was stupid and didn’t check my statements for accuracy (either online or the paper version).  Dammit.  That’ll learn me!

My only hope is that the people at Vendio will refund that last charge, but I don’t think they’ll even do so since it’s been so long.  Grrr.

I’m not even sure how someone got ahold of the card number, the only place we’ve used it online has been at Circuit City, and that was to do their “in-store pickup” ordering… AND, that was waaaay back in 2002.  Otherwise, charges have been few & far between, and all local.

Fuh.  I’m contemplating cancelling the card altogether.  There’s only about $850 on it, and I planned on getting it paid off in a couple of months anyway… may as well kill it off and be done with it.  It has a shitty APR, anyway.

Fortunately it seems to be the only card this is happening to.. the others, which consist of either department store credit cards (two out of four have a balance), and then our check cards & platinum cards, are ok…

I’m thinking about going part-way through the signup process at Vendio just to see what kind of information they ask for when someone signs up for an account.  I’d like to know what kind of verification process those nutjobs have on their site… This really shouldn’t have happened.

Anyway, don’t find out the hard way like I did that unauthorized charges are being made on one of your credit cards.  Don’t be stupid like I was.  [/hangs head in shame]

Oh, isn’t that just niice...

Saturday, April 03, 2004
I've been sitting around for four weeks like a doofus, under the mistaken impression that the court will diligently mail our certified marriage license back to us.

Apparently, they keep it.
And to get a certified copy, WE have to call up the Clerk of the Court (or write them), and send a check for $18.00 + $5.00 handling fee, and wait two to three weeks for them to mail it to us.

Of course, we just assumed that the license would be mailed to us, well, because NOWHERE have I read that it doesn't just get mailed to us. NOWHERE. It doesn't even say that in the name-change kit that I bought. All I ever saw was, "when they mail you your license back", everywhere I looked.

Leaving out a minor, yet oh-so-important, detail there, aren't we?!

Dammit.

squeeeeeeaaaaakk!

Thursday, March 18, 2004
That's what we've been hearing from the brakes on our truck for the past, oh, 6,000 miles or so.

We've had it checked by the dealership at least four times (maybe five or six?), and they can't find anything wrong with them. Until today, we've been told "maybe they're dirty, maybe it's brake dust". Today, they even called to their headquarters in Tennessee to see if any other customers have reported this sort of issue (the front pads have 40%-50% left on them, rotors are in excellent condition, no obvious signs of trouble with the calipers or any other parts of the brake system). The advisor came back and said the nearest they can guess is that if we have a tendency to brake slowly for the most part, it could be causing the brakes to glaze which could be causing the squealing.

Other than that, there is nothing wrong with them that they could find.. They're not wearing unevenly or anything... For all intents and purposes, they're fine.

So our only choices are to live with the squealing, or to replace the brakes (which the guys at the dealership were hesitant to recommend since there is so much pad left... and considering how much money they stand to make if we replace them, I guess that says something about their integrity... either that or they're just dishing out the reverse psychology).

We've decided to replace them, at the cost of $200 plus tax (apparently the brake pads themselves for this truck cost $109... eesh!). And I'm holding that service director to that quote.. It's funny how costs can vary from dealership to dealership, even between dealers who sell the same cars (in this case, Saturns). At the dealership I took it today, on the opposite side of town from our house, the service advisor started quoting upwards of $260+, and he wasn't even finished calculating the costs when I said no way. The place by our house quoted $200 plus tax, so next Tuesday I'll be back there getting the brakes replaced.

I just hope replacing the pads, which will include having the rotors turned, will get rid of the squealing.

one step forward, two steps back…

Wednesday, March 17, 2004
I wish the cold that Josh has would make up its mind whether it's going to attack me or not... I think I may have given it to him, as last Wednesday I felt ill, I felt it in my head and sort of in my chest, but it didn't develop into anything, it just kind of went away later that evening...

Josh has been sick for a few days now, and I've been downing the Vitamin C as a preventative measure.

Today, now that I'm at work and after I spent all morning at home feeling perfectly fine, I have a splitting headache, the kind of headache that is usually a prelude to a cold, as well as that general ill feeling I had last Wednesday.

Dammit.

mother f’in, g*d damned kids!!

Friday, February 27, 2004
There is a house to the south from us (across the backyard fence), which is home to a family. This family has children, I'd say at the mimimum, two, maybe more than that. There's a possibility that the lady there may also even babysit even more children.

Our yard, over the last four years, has become littered with their toys, which get thrown over the fence into our yard.

We even had one of those big bouncey balls that has a handle on them and kids sit on them and hop around on fall into our yard. We didn't return it, it's now nearly flat (in the voice of Nelson from the Simpsons, Ha - haa!!).

In fact, we've never returned any of their toys, we figure if they miss them they'd stop by our house and ask for them.

There are also a few baseballs and tennis balls that have come over the fence.

We didn't really mind any of this since our yard is not done (it's just dirt, weeds, and a section of winter-dormant (we hope, anyway) grass.

Until today.

The stream of profanity that wants to escape from my mouth right now would make a sailor's ears bleed.

We don't even know when this happened, we rarely open our blinds on this window, or go into the back yard... but it was recently, within the last couple of months I believe, as we did open the window at least once in the new year on one of Phoenix's nicer days this winter...

I don't even have any idea how much it costs to replace a window, especially one that large.

Here is a picture of the proof that this baseball is the one that did the damage:

ball_01.jpg

And here is a close up of the imprint. You can even see where the ball hit the bottom of the window frame!

I plan on going over to the neighbors house this morning, ball in hand, to let them know their kids finally damaged our property with all of the shit they've been throwing over the fence, and it would behoove them to pay up for the damages.

Grrr........

Well, that explains everything...

It's no wonder that many women have complexes about their weight.

The modelling industry considers a size 8 to be plus size.

I heard a radio ad on the way to get dinner, where they were asking for "plus size" models, size 8 and up.

Size 8.

That's just all kinds of wrong.
