animal obsessions…

What are your animals obsessed with? And no easy answers like: my dog is obsessed with his tennis ball. That's just a given.
See? You were panicking for nothing…

I picked up my dress this morning. The sleeves weren't exactly as I had pictured in my mind, but you know what? They work. I can lift my arms.
On another note, if I had more than two months to my wedding and had $550 to spend, I probably would pick this dress.
I like the style, although I think I'd try to bargain with the seamstress to lighten the underdress color a bit (instead of gold), as well as the beaded bridal trim. Oh well. :o)
And dammit, whoever that photographer was, needs to learn how to take pictures. Use the flash, for pete's sake!! The sunlight-only lighting just creates too many harsh shadows. Eesh.
Picking up my dress…

The lady doing my sleeves called me this evening, and said they were done.Well, technically, done a second time.
I had called her yesterday, and they were done then, too. Yes, they were done, but after I tried on the dress at her house, I couldn't lift my arms very high. It would have made dancing (the proper way) virtually impossible.
The problem was that the scarf that came wtih the dress, wasn't wide enough to accomodate a moving arm, but that was also in part due to the cut of the straps on the dress.
So this morning she set about look for matching material. At first her idea was to add a slit down the length of the sleeve, to the point where I can lift my arm, and then back it with material, making it, well, she called it a "cathedral window". Then she thought, well, scrap the whole sleeve except the pattern at the bottom, and make whole new sleeves out of new material. When she called me earlier today to say she found some material that looked close in color but was textured slightly different than what the rest of my dress was, I noted that I had thought of another idea that may work, and could we try it?
My idea was, with the slit that had been cut into one of the sleeves already to see how much room I needed for my arm to move freely, to cut away the material from the bottom of that slit, slope the cutting up toward where the sleeve is attached to the bodice, and leave just a length at the bottom of the arm hole attached.. leaving a "window" where my shoulder is exposed. It leaves the sleeves attached, but with no material over my shoulder, my arm should be able to move freely. (I'm not a seamstress so I have no clue what terminology I should be using in my description of this)... She said she'd try it.
She called while I was driving over to Josh's office with dinner, to let me know that she was done with the modifications. She has to leave tomorrow morning to go to Virginia, so I'll be leaving my house a little earlier than normal to stop by her house, try on the dress again and pay her if my idea worked and looks good, and take the dress with me.
We'll see how close she was able to come to matching my description to her of my idea.
It’s bear-y sweet!
Here's what I got from Josh for Valentine's Day:
Cute, isn't it? :o)
Valentine’s gift…
I got mine today.. I have a picture of it, but I can't post it until Josh's mom gets hers.. 'cause it would give it away if I posted it now. ;o)Hmmm… trackback issues
Thursday, February 12, 2004
It's come to my attention that my trackbacks aren't working. It seems to have been affected by me adding my "Super Secret" category, it farks up the link you have to use to trackback to me, so that when your version of MT goes through it's pings it doesn't work 'cause the link is wrong.Bah!
I am not sure what exactly is wrong, I checked the index template and everything seems to be OK... *sigh*
The link looks like this:
http://www.prismaticdragon.com/mt/archives/miscellaneous/</MTIfCategory>000354.php
It's sticking </MTIfCategory> in there when it shouldn't be, but even taking that extra crap out, the trackback still won't work (at least not from Josh's blog)..
So if someone wants to test it from their blogs to see if it will ping me, that way I can determine if it's only a problem with my blog or Josh's..
Thanks.
test trackbacks..
testRowr!
I took the What Mythological Creature Are you? test.
So I'm almost a dragon. ;o)

oOooOOooo.. I just remembered that this Friday, my first raise in like, three years goes into effect. We were notified last week of what our raises were, I just forgot to post about it.I'm pretty impressed, management actually decided I was worthy of more than a 4% raise this time. (that was the last raise I got, in Spring 2001) They also wanted to make sure those of us at the bottom of the barrel in pay were brought up to par with our colleagues if our performance warranted it.
They decided mine did.
10%
Needless to say, I was quite happy. I'm happy that I'm no longer one of the lowest paid and hardest workers in my department, while others who were paid more did considerably less work than I. Not to mention sloppier work than I.
Although not everyone got that.. There were those who got maybe 2%, but those were mostly the ones who were paid at the top of the salary tiers, and were the slackers. They were not happy about that, but what can you expect if you get paid almost $30K more than the people at the bottom of the barrel and you do about 80% less work than those at the bottom?
Yes, that is how wide the spread was between me (as well as the others paid the same as me) and the highest paid person in our department (management excluded). Roughly a $25k-$27k difference. How sick is that? Now it's probably like $20k-$22k difference, but still, too much in my opinion.
No rest for the busy-body…

I have a rather busy day tomorrow...I have to wake up early to be down at the Joann's where the lady who is putting the sleeves on my dress works, sometime after 10am, so that I can try on the dress with the sleeves barely sewn on to make sure I like how they look before she permanently attaches them.
Then I'll be returning home to do a little housework, as the Bug Man is coming on Monday morning.
Then I'll be heading over to my future MIL's house to meet with her and Josh's SIL to work on the flowers for the wedding.
Then on Monday I'll be getting up early again to be down at Arizona Mills to meet Josh's SIL so she can show me the dress she's thinking about buying for the wedding.. (she's a bridesmaid), and that will be at 10a since she has to be at work by 2:30p on the other side of town.
That will make four days in a row I've had to wake up before 8am to get things done. Yuck. (Hey, I normally sleep until 10:30a.. so anything before then is early for me!)
Yesterday I woke up early to take the VUE in to have its brakes checked. Bleh. I'm so not a morning person. 😕
