So we're back. Got home around 3pm I think.
Didn't win anything, but what can you expect when we put all of maybe $6 into the slot machines? Neither of us are really big gamblers, even when we could better afford to be. Justifying dropping $20 in one sitting with little to no chance of breaking even let alone gaining any more than that, just doesn't sit well with us.
But I will pay for lottery tickets. Go figure. I usually only buy $5 a drawing, sometimes $10 if the jackpot gets really high.
But anyway... The trip was uneventful, for the most part. Blue Man was good, as it always is. It's especially fun to sit next to someone who's never been to one of their shows. Especially in the "pancho" section. The lady sitting next to me said she wasn't going to wear her pancho unless I put mine on, since I'd been to the show before. I said I wasn't going to put mine on. She chickened out just before the show started, however.
It is NOT fun to sit in front of someone who
has been to one of their shows before, but in one of the other cities where they regularly do shows, if that person cannot keep their mouth shut. In this lady's case it was the show in New York City. And in her case, she was immediately comparing the show in Vegas to the one in New York. She kept saying, in a disappointing tone, "It's the exact same show as the one in New York! I can't believe this...". I wanted to turn around and bitch-slap her. Who cares if the routine is the same in all the cities they play in?
She also talked as if she were the be-all-end-all expert on the Blue Man Group. Her seat neighbors asked if these fellows toured to play in all of the cities that their shows are featured in... She said they didn't (which is true), they play every night so it would be impossible to have the same people playing in all the cities (Boston, New York, Chicago and Las Vegas). She said "they never do tours".
Umm... *cough*bullshit*cough* What do you call the tour that went through Phoenix a couple months ago? They tour to promote their new albums, just like any other musician with a large fan base.
She may have babbled on more about other things but I tried my best to tune her out. People like that just annoy me.
Let's see... what else. Oh, our room at the Excalibur. Very disappointed in it. The hot tub couldn't hold its water, it drained almost half as quickly as you could fill it, and yes, the drain plug was in place and closed. But the silicon seal in the drain was useless, because you could pull the whole drain cover off the drain (which it would seem to me, that shouldn't be possible). So you could fill it halfway (which took longer, of course, because it's already draining), enjoy the heat and the jets & the bubbles for a little bit, and before too long have to either add water if you wanted to stay in longer, or just get out.
When I used it last night to soak my achey hip, I think I was in for maybe 15 minutes before I gave up and just got out (and I had added water at least once). I didn't even bother to "unplug" the drain because it would completely drain on its own in short order. How useless.
Also, the tub would gurgle, loudly, at random times for no apparent reason. We don't know if it was from tubs above us draining and going through our pipes or what, but it was quite annoying. Because it happened while we were trying to sleep. It woke us both up several times the first night. Needless to say, the noise, combined with hotel beds not being very comfortable in the first place, we
slept like shit.
The second night we left the fan on the A/C running in attempt to drown out the gurgling drain. It worked, as I slept soundly until 8am, waking of my own volition. Wake-up call was set for 9am, so I slept for another hour. It seemed to work for
Josh as well, as he said he did not wake up repeatedly like the night before, either.
All in all, I would avoid the Excalibur for their jacuzzi rooms. I don't know if their "King's Parlor" Suites would fair any better, we simply had a jacuzzi room. But, if you want a jacuzzi room, so far the Luxor rates better in that category. They cost about $50-$60 more, but frankly it would be worth it.
We'll probably try another hotel's jacuzzi room on our next trip in order to get a wider range of comparison between the hotels.
That's all, folks...
