So as I was getting ready for work, I gathered my things (keys, purse, soda) and opened the door to the garage, looked down, and froze in my tracks.
If you are squeemish about bugs in general, or have a fear of spiders or scorpions, do not click the links to view the images. You have been warned!
This is what greeted me, right in the path of where I would walk to get to my car. Ain't he cute? (/sarcasm)
I damn near had a panic attack. I hate spiders, and I hate scorpions. This thing is bascially a combination of those two critters, in that it looks like a spider but is supposedly related to scorpions. It is not poisonous, but do you see those pincers? NOT something one would want to encounter barefoot.
I think it is dying, because if it were not, there is no way I would've been able to capture that thing under a glass jar, because those buggers are FAST.
It looks pretty big, you say? Why yes, yes it
is. Two inches, to be precise. Quite a big mo-fo.
I was wondering when I'd see this thing.
Josh had seen it in the garage a couple of weeks ago as he was leaving for work.. it had run underneath his car but it was nowhere to be seen by the time we got home again later that night.
So now it sits in a jar in our garage, and will be unceremoniously dumped out with the trash once it is dead. In hindsight I probably should've walked over to the state-owned land just 200 feet from our house and dumped it out in the dirt before I left, but I was already delayed heading out to work with the encounter, capturing it, and photographing it. If it is still alive by the time I get home, out into the desert it will go.
*shudder* Ew.
That's all, folks...
