Well, I started the day with good intentions. I got rid of about three medium sized boxes filled with newspapers (and the boxes got tossed, too), but while I was out disposing of those, I had to make a few other stops.
The two "required" stops were to OfficeMax or Staples (to get more banker storage boxes), and to Wal-Mart (to get some more excercise weights).
I made two side trips. The first one to JoAnn Etc, to peruse their art section and see what kind of prices I'd be up against in purchasing new watercolors (since the set I had from way back in high-school had all but maybe four tubes that were all dried up). Found nothing of interest there, couldn't find the prices on the Van Gogh watercolors so I left.
I then went to Staples to see what their selection of banker boxes were.. the most they had per package was six, and I knew that OfficeMax carried packages of 10, so I left.
Then I decided I'd visit the nearest thing to a real "art store" in my part of town,
Aaron Brothers. They didn't have any Van Gogh or Rembrandt paints, but that is OK, because those paints are supposed to be "top of the line" for
Talens, and will probably cost a pretty penny. What I did find was what is probably a generic brand of paints, but for a set of 24 colors for $13, I couldn't pass it up. I'll worry about the more expensive stuff later on after I've gotten back into the swing of watercolor painting.
I also bought a set of brushes (on clearance, $5 for five brushes), a plastic paint tray, a small sea sponge, a small bottle of masking medium, and a block of 9"x12" of watercolor paper. Walked out paying $41 even. Not too bad, considering a set of paints in other brands with 24 colors probably would've been much more expensive (I was eyeing a more "designer" brand there that cost nearly three times as much as what I paid, but couldn't justify the price at this point).
After that I stopped at Wal-Mart and got a set of adjustable weight ankle weights and two 5 lb dumbbells, a couple more Atkin's bars, and a bottle of water.
On my way home, my dad calls me up and says he needs a place to stay tonight (he's in town working on a car and their house is officially the bank's)... So when I get home, I half-heartedly start going through some stuff in the living room that can be boxed away. Got one banker's box filled, but that's about as far as I got.
I think other stuff distracted me for a bit, and then my dad showed up around 8pm'ish. I intended on cooking dinner for us, and realized I still needed a couple of things for my Atkin's dinner, which would be cauliflower-leek puree and tequila chicken. I still needed a couple of ingredients for the puree (which, quite strangely, taste very much like mashed potatoes when it's all done & made), and I needed garlic for the tequila chicken.
It was pretty good, although the chicken took about 15 minutes longer to cook than what the instructions said, because they were pretty big chicken breasts.
But it was definitely good. I'll have to make some more of that cauliflower-leek puree on the weekend. It was quite tasty.
So, tomorrow I will try, once again, to get the living room cleaned up.
I figure if I can have those last two rooms done by the time Monday rolls around, that will be fine (pending visit from the Bugman to spray the house). I'll have to worry about my office next week, most likely. Ah well.
That's all, folks...
