power outage

We lost power this morning, probably around 6AM. I think it lasted around 40 minutes or so, because the little clock on my desk is flashing "4:00" so it's been four hours since power restored, and I woke up at 6 after hearing the smoke detectors let out their little squeaks saying that main power is gone, so "now we're on battery power". At first I thought one of their batteries died (because that tends to happen in the dead of night), but then I realized I couldn't see the alarm clocks.I think that also the fact that I couldn't hear any ambient noise produced when the power is on helped wake me as well..
Does anyone else get woken up when the power goes off in the middle of the night just for sheer lack of ambient noise? Just curious. Gotta get ready for work now.
