Where shall we put it?

Thursday, December 04, 2003
Evidently, we've landed ourselves a 9' Christmas tree. It's artificial, and is probably just a loaner. It belongs to Josh's dad, but it won't fit in his current house. But our house has vaulted ceilings, and I've been pining (get it, pining? Ha!) for a Christmas tree ever since we moved into our house. The only trees we have are these little 1'-2' mini-trees.

I've got a few ornaments that I've been collecting & making over the last few years, but that tree is gonna be rather nekkid until I get more.

But, that will probably be a good thing, 'cause our cats will probably take the tree down more than once in their curiosity over its presence.

I have an idea of where to put it, but I can't remember how tall that part of the house is (I'm at work at the moment, so can't run out & measure). There is one other place I can think to place it if my first idea doesn't work, but the problem with that spot is I will have to move a piece of furniture as well as the cat tree. Where the cat tree is currently located, the cats climb up it and onto the 3/4 wall that separates the kitchen & the living room ('cause you know how cats love high places). And if I leave the cat tree there, I can just picture the cats diving off the wall and into the tree. Whee!!

This should make for a rather interesting holiday season. I think I'll keep a tally of how many times I walk out to find the tree flat on its face. We'll see how long it takes the cats to get bored with it. Knowing my cats, either they will ignore it, or they'll knock it down over and over again because they're short a few marbles and can't grasp the concept of "stay away!!". Heh.
