raindrops keep falling on my head…

Our window that was broken in February was due to be replaced today. But mother nature has had other ideas. I don't think it's stopped raining since 9-10pm last night. Not raining hard, but sprinkling, non-stop.
I just talked with one of the guys who'd be installing the glass, and ordinarily they would install it if it stopped raining (our appointment is for after 1PM today, so technically it could still stop sprinkling)... However, I asked him to come back next week.
Not just because of the rain, but because our backyard isn't landscaped, so it's all mud right now. The last thing I need is some guy trying to carry a very large piece of glass through our back yard to slip in the mud and drop the window (and possibly even get hurt) or even get stuck in mud that would probably try to claim his shoes... So I asked him to come back next week.. He said Tuesday, he'll call on Monday to let us know if they'll be able to come by early in the morning like I requested (8a-10a) since both of our work schedules will be changing next week.
Yeah, we got stuck on the graveyard shift this upcoming quarter. Oh joy.
oooooh, so THAT’s how it’s done!

*/niki smacks self on forehead*When following a knitting pattern, it helps to know that:
(YO, K2 tog)
is VERY different from:
YO, K2 tog
Yes, the parenthesis actually mean something.
And yes, I will post a photo of the blanket when its done. Now that I'm actually doing it the correct way, the complete correct way, I may finally get somewhere with it and it will look like it is supposed to look.
*hack*cough*patoooey!

Sometimes I think the worst part of a cold is the recovery. You know, when your sinuses try to eliminate the awful phlegm that spent an entire week building up in there.
But it's so friggin sticky it won't go anywhere!!
It's driving me nuts. I'm seriously considering jamming a pipe cleaner up there just to dig the shit out.
UGH!!

Just pull the little string, and it all unravels..
Sunday, March 28, 2004
Well, I did it. I unravelled the baby blanket. It was only 5 oz of yarn.
Baby blanket yarn, so it's relatively thin. Which means there's really a LOT of it.
The yarn ball I have now as a result is just huge. Maybe about the size of a small cantaloupe..
Then I started over. After casting on 146 stitches, the next six rows are purl.
For the sake of learning, I tried once again to do it the correct way... and I found that it's really not that difficult, in fact pretty easy. That doesn't mean I'm going to go the correct way with the critter blankie, because it will put two purled rows directly against one another and would look funky. No, I'll continue doing that one backwards until it's done. But for the baby blanket, I'll do it the correct way. :o)
knit to infinity…

Something I learned about the knitting I'm doing currently...1) What I thought I was doing as a "knit" stitch, actually is a "purl" stitch...
2) And I'm doing the "purl" stitch backwards...
and
3) When I got to the end of the row doing the "purl" stitch the way I've been doing it and decided to try it the "right" way, I found that the "right" way is less graceful (at least to me).. I can go so much faster doing it the way I've been doing it, which is apparently the "wrong" way, or at least, backwards. :o)
just your average, abnormal girl

I left work early on Saturday because my throat was killing me. That was the start of my cold.I felt ok before work yesterday, so I went to work. I ended up leaving early, after having been there only two hours, as I felt like absolute shit, and the Advil Cold & Sinus I had taken were not helping. Conveniently this was when Josh's shift was over, so I just left my car there and carpooled with him to go home.
When we went to the grocery store to get things for dinner, we also bought a digital thermometer since all we have is a glass one, and when I took my temperature on Saturday, I wasn't even getting to 98 degrees (which is normal for me). I wanted to make sure it was accurate.
My temperature on the digital? 96.5, both via oral and armpit. I found that extremely odd, since I felt hot to the touch (my forehead). But even if I were to use the glass thermometer, it probably would not have registered above 98 anyway.
Today I took my temperature with the digital, and at least today I'm not below my normal average: 97.7.
I still feel kind of blah, and while I felt OK when I woke up at 6:15 this morning, I know it'll just get worse as the day goes on (just like yesterday), so I opted to call in sick today. I'd rather be at home and doped up on cold meds than at work, as cold meds tend to make me really loopy, even at half-doses. Except that Advil Cold & Sinus. I hardly felt its effects at all, even at double dose (two capsules).
Now, excuse me while I go locate the DayQuil tablets.. since the NyQuil worked fairly well last night (I woke up and was able to actually breathe like a normal person this morning), I figure the DayQuil may work, too.
utterly annoying..

It's just so wrong that while my right sinus is seriously stuffied, I have to keep a kleenex handy 'cause at the same time, it won't stop running!Ugh.

It has happened…

I got sick, presumably a head cold. This hasn't happened in at least a year and a half, maybe two years?
So far it's just a sore throat (since Saturday, but not too bad the last two days), and some minor sinus congestion & pressure. I am hoping that is all it does, that way I won't have to take any NyQuil (*gag*) to fend of coughing fits at night...
It must be the environment..

On Wednesday, I thought I was coming down with the cold that Josh has had all week. I felt relatively fine yesterday, but now it feels like it's creeping up on me again.Maybe that's why I didn't feel really rested after the attempted "extra sleep" this morning?
Let's get this overwith already, I don't like playing hide-n-seek with a virus. 😕
I probably should have just stayed awake…
This past week, excluding Monday, I've been waking up early (6:15-6:30am or so) since Josh has to leave at around 6:45-7:00 to get to work by 8.Mainly I stayed up after he left because I had things to do.. a little reorganizing of a couple of rooms in the house, taking the truck in to have its brakes checked, etc.
Today I didn't have anything special I absolutely needed to do, so I decided I'd try to get some more sleep when he left.
I set the alarm for 8:30 I think. I hit snooze. Again, and again, and again... I eventually dragged my ass out of bed just before 10am. The extra sleep didn't do me any good, I feel less rested than I did when I woke up at 6:30. Feh.
Off to go meet Josh for lunch before it's time for me to be at work.
