we’re talking enhancements..

I had a follow up eye appointment Tuesday morning.

My eyesight is slowly getting worse.

Funny, isn't it supposed to be getting better? I didn't fork out $3k* to get my eyes lasered for this not to work. >:-|

Anyway. I go back again in three weeks, so the dr can check them one more time, and if they don't change in that timespan, then they will schedule me for an enhancement. Which is coming out of their pockets, because it's within one year of my initial surgery.

Oh joy. Thing is I don't think they have to "cut" my flap again, they just gotta peel it up (that is why patients are not allowed to rub their eyes for years after their surgery... 'cause it takes so long to fully heal, IF it ever really fully heals).

Pretty picture, I know. 😕 Not really looking forward to it, but it better friggin fix my eyes.

my brother

Tuesday, April 13, 2004
Just a quick update...
They took the breathing tube out yesterday. He's breathing on his own, if somewhat labored. The CAT scan from yesterday showed no additional bleeding, and no brain swelling.

They're easing up on the sedating & pain meds to try to get him to wake up, to see if they can find out how much of anything he remembers. He's still not truly "aware", although mom said she's been able to calm him when he gets agitated*, so apparently he's at least recognizing her voice.

*(which is rather ironic considering the two of them butt heads A LOT, and sometimes viciously)

The hospital staff say there's a possibility of a personality change (we're hoping for a good personality change if that's the case), memory loss (his injury was to the frontal lobe), and potentially even the loss of remembering how to do mundane things like walking... although they're not too worried about the latter since he does thrash his arms & legs when he gets agitated, so on some level he still remembers how to move his limbs.

For now it's a waiting game.

I got to spend about 3.5 hours at the hospital tonight.

My youngest brother rolled my other brother's pickup. Less than 1/4 mile from my parents' house in Chino Valley... He had just left the house, to go get something to eat.

Transitioning to a new sleep schedule is always rough.
Technically we go in tonight at midnight for our first day of our stint on graveyards..

Right now I'm fighting to stay awake. I took a nap from 5:00a - 5:30a and haven't really woken up since. If I sit still for too long I start to nod off...

This royally sucks. Hopefully as the week goes by we'll get more adjusted to a graveyard shift sleep schedule.

It doesn't help that even though on our first night we stayed up until 4am, and ended up waking at 11am... without the alarm...

The next day I stayed up until 9:30am (we had an appointment for the A/C people to come do a checkup on our A/C unit)... and woke up at 3:30p... again, without the alarm.

I am not liking that trend. Not necessarily the waking up without the alarm part, but the sleeping for only 7 hours or less when I'm trying to modify my sleep patterns. Ugh.

Today I'm waiting for 8am to roll around so I can call the glass people to find out what time they'll be coming over this morning to install the new window. Then we'll have to keep ourselves awake until they're done with that. Oh goody.

Oh, isn’t that just niice...

I've been sitting around for four weeks like a doofus, under the mistaken impression that the court will diligently mail our certified marriage license back to us.

Apparently, they keep it.
And to get a certified copy, WE have to call up the Clerk of the Court (or write them), and send a check for $18.00 + $5.00 handling fee, and wait two to three weeks for them to mail it to us.

Of course, we just assumed that the license would be mailed to us, well, because NOWHERE have I read that it doesn't just get mailed to us. NOWHERE. It doesn't even say that in the name-change kit that I bought. All I ever saw was, "when they mail you your license back", everywhere I looked.

Leaving out a minor, yet oh-so-important, detail there, aren't we?!

Dammit.

How can one be busy at work, yet so damn bored?!

Maybe it's 'cuz Josh took a half day today, and I couldn't...

Maybe it's 'cuz we're short one person, and our trouble ticket count is 30+ larger than it was yesterday...

Maybe it's 'cuz I really don't like my job...

Maybe it's 'cuz I'd rather be knitting while I waste away here...

Or maybe it's just 'cuz I'd rather be anywhere but here.

Bah!

She’s mental

I had a feeling this would turn out like it did.

I wonder what brought her to the point where she felt she needed to pull a hoax? Perhaps she should get some counselling...
