to scout for gas, that is.
My car has just over 1/2 a tank of gas in it.
My fiance's truck is on "E", with the gas gauge light on. He has to drive 40 miles to get to work tomorrow, and at best, without putting gas in his truck, he
he does not run the A/C, at two o'clock in the afternoon. Yeah, right.
I could probably take him to work, but remember, I have half a tank of gas. To take him to work and come home would be approximately 80 miles. Then I would need to drive back out there after his shift is overwith to pick him up... another 80 miles. See where this is going? My car gets decent gas mileage (around 30mpg), but by the time I would pull into my driveway after picking him up from work,
I would then need gas.
So, I will be scouting my neighborhood tonight, in search for a gas station that is not closed because they are out of gas. There are two possible places, a Circle K about two miles from our home, and a QuikTrip that is about six miles from our home. The problem is, both of those places had cars lined up for a couple of blocks waiting in line for gas at noon. The QT still had cars lined up (1/4 mile to the stoplight) at 4PM. So I have a feeling the chances of either of those places still having gas later on tonight (when I hope most people will be sleeping!), is going to be slim to none.
I read on azcentral today an
article that did little to ease my agitation at this whole fiasco.
For one thing, I learned that our governor is completely and totally naive.
Many customers complained that gas stations were artificially raising prices, and that drew a quick rebuke from Napolitano.
"It better not be (price gouging)," Napolitano said. "Now is not the time for the blame game."
Um, hello, dipshit. How can you not call gas at $2 a gallon (or higher), price gouging? (when gas used to be at around $1.55/g before the pipepline got shut off) Better yet, how about the few places I've heard about that jacked the prices of gas up to nearly $5 a gallon?! (worse, there were people that actually filled their tanks at this price... a channel 12 news clip showed a pump where someone had put 17 gallons of gas in their vehicle... that totalled $75.00!!)
For another thing, our lovely governor isn't going to look into this until
after this whole thing settles down?
She said that she would examine the problem in depth after the initial crisis blows over.
What crack is she smoking? Why wait? The problem needs to be looked at
now.
And thirdly, we may have to endure
two more weeks of this because they need time to test the pipeline?
Ugh. I am seriously going to ask my boss if I can just telecommute for the next two weeks. This is utterly ridiculous.
That's all, folks...
