It’s a madhouse
Sunday, August 17, 2003
I spoke yesterday of a couple of gas stations that were completely out of gas. Well, today, one of them, the Circle K, evidently got a shipment of gas trucked in. Let the mayhem begin!! I drove past this Circle K on my way to pick up lunch. There were cars lined up 7 - 8 deep waiting to get gas. At $1.89 a gallon.
But I was mistaken in thinking that it was a madhouse at the Circle K...
Costco was much, much worse. I think there were a good 15 cars waiting in line to get gas, for each lane of pumps! Not to mention the line of cars that sat in the left & right turn lanes waiting to even pull into the station's driveway. By the time I passed by this mess, I saw a police car pulling in (going around cars waiting in line on the street, so I assume the intent of this officer was not to get gas), presumably to get out and start directing traffic.
I made it a point not to drive back the way I came, so I could avoid the chaos in the vicinity of Costco. For as many people who seemed to be so desperate to get gas there, I have to wonder just how much of a discount they were getting for being Costco members...
