The word ‘meaningful’ when used today is nearly always meaningless.

stinky house…

Saturday, February 12, 2005

Why is that after cooking dinner at home (in this case, tacos), the house REEKS the next morning?  No cracks about my cooking, now.  I am a decent cook (read: I don’t burn stuff, and no one has gotten sick or died from eating my cooking!).  For some reason, burger & onions cooked together just leaves the house stinky afterwards.

I would have opened the windows, but it’s raining cats & dogs.

I think I need to invest in some “Oust!”.  Bleh.

I sure hope we get a refund this year…

Saturday, February 05, 2005

‘cuz some of it is going toward paying for our U2 tickets.

And the concert is, ironically, on tax day.

Even better? If for some reason we decide not to go, we could probably ebay those babies for double what we paid, if not more.  They’re pretty good seats.

my sense of timing…

Wednesday, February 02, 2005

Just when I decide I want to try to make a new skin with some stock photos from stockstash.com, I find that the site has been closed down (possibly only temporarily)... and before I could get all the neat-o photos downloaded!  😠  There were lots of pretty flowers I had picked out, and some winter scenes… and… puh.

My timing is wonderful, I tell ya.

acronyms…

Everytime I see the acronym “RIF” on other people’s blogs, I have to remind myself, especially after reading the content of their post, that in their case, they’re referring to its meaning as “Reading is Fundamental”.

Mainly because, in my world, it almost always means “Reduction in Force”.  You know, because the company I work for has gone through so many of those, in that context.  Around here, “RIF” is a bad word.

*dances*

No jury duty for me!

I don’t know why they waste the paper & postage sending summons to me.  I think I’ve gotten four, maybe five summons since I first registered to vote, and every single time my group gets excused before I even have to show up.

you blink, and woah!

Saturday, January 29, 2005

I was going to post about bored I was, sitting here at work, and how long the day seems to be taking to pass by… But I just realized there’s less than two hours left before we go home and start our weekend.

🐛

What happened?  Did I enter a time-warp or something?

Huh.

And I also just realized, I think I need a wider range of smilies to choose from.  :cheese:

sweaty betty…

Wednesday, January 19, 2005

And yes, for the curious, it did get to 80 degrees today in Phoenix.

We turned on the a/c in the car because it was so warm.

I just turned on my floor fan because after cleaning up those last couple of boxes, I started sweating.

It’s January, for pete’s sake.  I know, I know…. I could be freezing my ass off like the folks in the northeast & midwest… So I guess I should be grateful.

Okay. Off to go pound some clay before dinner.  :-D

onto more pleasing things…

On a lighter note, I got all of the supplies I ordered to try out a new way to form armatures for sculptures.  The first order came yesterday, the other was on my porch when we got home today.

I know I promised a clean office before I began digging my fingers into the sculpting, but I’m about 90% done, maybe 95%.  I’ve got a couple of boxes to put away, and then I’ll have like 100% more floor space than I had when I started.  I tried to keep similar stuff together (like all the old bills in two or three boxes, all of my cross-stitch stuff in a box, other crafty stuff in another, etc.), and now I’m to the point where what is left really doesn’t have much in common with the rest.. I hate to just throw everything into a box without some semblance of organization, but I’m about to do that, being quite fed up with cleaning.  I just want it done so I can get back to tearing apart the dragon I was about 50% done with and starting over on it with my new toys.

Yeah. Screw it.  Tossing of random things into a box to commence in 5…4…3…2…1

that was… disturbing.

Thursday, January 13, 2005

I just remembered something I saw the other day that completely grossed me out.

I was waiting to pick up an order of hot wings at the local pizza & wing joint, watching the Suns game on the television.  A trio of patrons came in, two ladies and a man.  The man ordered a pitcher of beer and carried it to the booth where the ladies were sitting, off to my right hand side.

As I watched the Suns game, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the man reach for the shaker jar of parmesan cheese.  Keep in mind, they only had beer at their table, no pizza or any other food yet.

I watched, from the corner of my eye, as he unscrewed the top off of the shaker jar of cheese.

And picked up a fork.

And put the fork into the shaker jar, and scooped out some cheese.  And ate it.

He then screwed the cap back on the shaker jar, putting the fork down.

Not two seconds later, he unscrewed the lid again.  Picked up the same fork.
Used it to scoop out another forkful of cheese.  And ate it.  Put the lid back on the jar, and set the fork down.

All the while, he is chatting with the ladies sitting across from him.

When I saw him do it the first time, I thought he was weird.  When he went for a second scoop, I shuddered.  He used the same fork!  eewww!!

Then he did it, again.  Unscrewed the lid, dipped the fork into the cheese, brought up a scoop full and ate it.  Although this time he didn’t screw the lid back on, he just went straight for dipping the fork, AGAIN!!!.

My order of wings was ready, and I left the place hoping to all that is holy that the owners saw what he was doing and would dump the entire jar out after he left (assuming he didn’t proceed to eat the whole thing, which was about half full).  And then run the jar through their dishwasher.

We’ve never dined in there, always have picked it up & taken the food home.  At this rate, I don’t think I’ll ever dine in there, on the offchance that they never dumped the cheese (if he left any) out after he left.

*shudder*  That deserves a whole body shudder.  Yuck!!
