It stinks around here.  Outside, that is.

The big Cave Creek Complex fire, burning in NE Phoenix is the main culprit.. But, another, smaller fire north of Lake Pleasant (which is pretty much straight north of where we live), has joined the party.  Along with several other smaller fires around the outskirts of town.

So, we walk outside, and the smell of smoke fills the air.  peeeu!

At least nearly all the fires so far this year were started by mother nature.  The lightning shows we had these past couple of nights were pretty awesome.  Some parts of town got rain (down at work today, I wondered if we were going to float away, the rain was coming down so hard and heavy), while others never saw a drop of it.  It’s a pity the rain didn’t go where it was needed most.  The amount of rain we got down at work, surely would have put that big fire out up at Cave Creek..  or at least slowed it waay down.

That is the downside to getting all the rain we did earlier in the spring… Everything started growing like mad after the unseasonable amount of rain we got.  And then once summer arrived and started drying everything out, well, it just created the perfect fuel for fire, and plenty of it, too.

Hopefully these fires won’t last long.  I get headaches smelling all that smoke.  Bleh.

Three.

As long as everything goes well, by the end of January there will be a new member of our household.

Here is peanut:

And no, it was not an accident. :o)

Baby is about 1.06cm right now, so very tiny.  We did see the heartbeat, the doctor estimated it to be about 132bpm.  The u/s dates the size at 7w1d, but my due date is 1/20/06 which really makes me 7w3d.

Morning sickness has not really hit hard yet. So far I am just getting nausous but have yet to bolt to a bathroom to hover over the toilet.  I’ve also been more tired than usual, but that is to be expected.

My next appointment is in four weeks, at which point we’re hoping to possibly actually hear the heartbeat.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I feel a bout of heartburn coming on.  Ugh.

...to not vote for Bush:

Schoolchildren threatened with expulsion if they wear anything pro-Kerry to the event.

This is really no surprise, considering I’ve read about people being arrested for wearing pro-Kerry shirts or holding pro-Kerry signs at Bush’s appearances, and any ticketed events he shows up at, they have to sign some sort of pledge of their support to Bush before they’re allowed to attend.  My boss at the yarn store even admitted she signed one of those forms so she could go see him (she is a Bush supporter, though) when Bush came through Phoenix, weeks before the debate in Tempe.

Feh.  It’s nice to see how our rights are tromped all over by the President just so he doesn’t have to bear witness to people who *gasp* don’t want to lick his boot heels and simply show their opinion by holding up a sign or wearing a shirt or button or ballcap that doesn’t have Bush-Cheney slapped all over it.  It really makes me sick.

What’s up with celebrities giving their children funky names?

Gwyneth with Apple, and now Courteney with Coco?!  Isn’t that a name one would give to, say, a CAT or a DOG?!

Eesh.

all done, I think!

Ok, got the skin put in place.  I checked the links and they seem to work ok (so far nothing still pointing to the default pink template I had before)...  Seems to look good in both Netscape 7 & IE 6.  Don’t know about any other browsers, though.  Let me know if anything is broken.

Now, for the details on the skin…

Graphics by me.  It’s the sketch I previewed here and pleaded for help in getting the layout set up…

Well, my MIL, Traecy, came to my rescue… It’s not all CSS as I had originally was interested in using (if it was possible), but it uses a lot of it, and a couple of tables.  Thank you so much!

Hmm… seems like, by the content in the post I referred to above, I owe her a dragon sculpture!  Heh.  In due time, I’ve got a base to finish for the gold one here, that a co-worker is interested in buying, as well as another one he ordered for his sister.

Speaking of which… I think I’ll continue to work on the base after I finish posting this.  I’m interested in seeing how it turns out.  I’ll definitely post photos when it’s done for you all to see!

Pardon the mess while I re-skin this place.  If there is anything broken, please let me know.  Thanks.

welcome!

Ok, here’s the dealio.

If you want to read any restricted entries, you have to register.
To post comments, you have to register, although I may just change that to only requiring a captcha, depending on if I get any grumblings about having to register to comment.

There is a catch, to read my restricted entires.  Right now I have new registerees being able to self-activate their new accounts at Prismatic Dragon.  I have, by default, set new members to be put under one specific “member category”.  However, that category is not able to read restricted entries, I have that set as another category, which, once I see a new member sign up, if they request access to the restricted entries, I will change the category their membership is under.

Oh, and if you register for my blog here, and you also read my husband’s blog, you do not have to register for each one.  Since it’s under the same installation of EE, one registration works at both blogs.

In order to be granted access to read restricted entries, I have to know you personally, or at least know you by your blog.  If you’re new and I haven’t read your blog yet, be sure to include your URL and give me some time to peruse your site and decide on whether to grant you access to my restricted entries.  Don’t be offended if I decide not to grant you access, I don’t want everyone in the world to see them, that’s why they’re restricted.  😜

I haven’t set Josh’s site up yet for restricted entries, he hasn’t told me yet if he wants them implemented.  But I’m sure he’ll let his readers know when he does decide.

I think that’s about it for now.  I may post something in my restricted category soon, depending on my workload.

toodles.
