party hearty…
We’ll be off to the annual family xmas party shortly.
White Elephant gift exchange… where there’s always a good-natured fight over the Best Buy gift card Josh & I always bring.
Happy holidays, everyone!
leaving scuff marks on the floor…
I’ve been damn tired today.
I bought a waterless vaporizer from Vicks, and it has a “soothing” green nightlight.
The first night I used it (Monday), it wasn’t so bad. I slept ok.
Last night, however, I woke up at 11pm, then again at 1am, 2am & 3am, and finally at 4am. I think I fell asleep around 9:30-10ish, so by those estimates, I think I got only two hours of uninterrupted sleep. The rest of my night was puncuated by hourly opening of the eyes to check the clock and make sure I wasn’t oversleeping.
I really hate that.
So yeah, I’m dragging my feet today as a result. I guess the “soothing” light from the vaporizor probably bothered me more than I figured it would. So tonight I’ll go without it and hope for more restful sleep. Besides, I have to wonder if it did little more than make our bedroom smell like a medicine cabinet. I think the mentholated breathe-right strips will probably do OK on their own in keeping me breathing freely throughout the night.
*poof*
Yeah, so my webserver had some issues.
About twenty hours of issues. I guess something went funky with their Apache install (I guess they were updating something), and it fubar’d everything… then they claimed it was fixed, but we still couldn’t reach our domains, plus mine, which is multi-hosted, wasn’t pointing to the subdomain anymore… so they got that fixed. Then it was still acting as if our sites didn’t exist.
But now it seems we’re back. Whee!
sneeze & sniffle…
Bleh.
My sore throat from Saturday is gone. Yesterday I started to feel better.
Then today I started to get sneezy & stuffy.
Dammit I hope this is gone before Friday.
At least most of my Christmas shopping is done. I still have to brave Wally world later tonight to get a few more things for my side of the family. But I will be doing that probably at around 11:00pm or so, since they’re open 24 hrs. Hopefully there will be maybe half as many ppl shopping at that time of night than when I passed by there at three. The parking lot looked pretty full then.
I still haven’t done any decorating yet. Mainly ‘cuz the tree we have is a nine footer that I didn’t particularly care for putting together or taking apart last year (scratched the hell out of my arms), and I’ve been mulling over the idea of buying a cheap 6’ tree, maybe pre-lit. I think I saw one at Walgreens for about $40 but it was kinda wimpy. Meh. Maybe I’ll just pull out one of my little 24” trees instead. It’s already decorated. Heh.
I’m not sure I want to bother with the lights on the house this year, either. I dislike having to climb to the very top of the 8’ ladder to hang the lights over the garage. Most of the houses on our street are decorated, but there are still a couple that aren’t, so if I decide not to put up the lights, at least I won’t be the only one.
Anyway.. I guess I’ll go dig through my wrapping paper and get a few gifts wrapped up so at least those are done. This cold is doing little for my holiday spirit. Bleh.
jury summons magnet…
I sure am, I tell you.
I got one in the mail yesterday, slated for Feb. 1st. Oh joy.
I had one earlier this year (in March I think?), but my group got cancelled. I didn’t have to go.
Somehow, the groups I get scheduled with, always get cancelled. The court ends up selecting its jury and never even needs us to show up at the courthouse. I think I’ve gotten four jury summons prior to this new one, over the course of 12 years, and my group gets cancelled every time.
I wonder how my luck will hold out with this one?
gurgle… bloop… pfth!
I think my brain just melted.
I’ve been on the phone with a south american telco, for ONE HOUR, trying to explain a very. simple. problem.
And, no, I don’t think it’s a language barrier issue, because they speak perfect English, albeit with a Spanish accent.
I feel like putting my head through my monitor.
At least it would take my mind off of my sore throat.
GAH!!!!!!
hindsite is always 20/20
Someone remind me to either start popping Vitamin C when getting ready to fly halfway across the country, or invest in some Airborne.
I’m coming down with a sore throat. Bah!
oh so motivated…
pshyeah.
Hardly.
Returning to work after a week off is always difficult. Particularly when returning to work in the middle of your work week. The good news is we only have to work for two days and then we get our normal weekend.
The bad news is we have to work for two days and then we get our normal weekend. Bleh.
oh, my head…
We’re back home.
Actually, we got home around 12:30-1pm, after picking up lunch at Del Taco.
Some mysterious elf cleaned our living room & kitchen (and front bathroom, and vacuumed!) while we were away.
I really dislike flying. I usually end up with a headache later in the day after the flight. The noise (even with my noise reducing headphones) and the cabin pressure are just too much I guess. But to cut travel time to mere hours (whereas driving would take well over a day or two), I am willing to make the sacrifice.
Now it’s off to bed with hopes that the advil will kick in and get rid of this headache. 😕
Will probably post a couple of pictures later, maybe tomorrow.
little visitor…
We arrived safely in Orlando yesterday afternoon.
Today we chose to go to Animal Kingdom first. Before leaving the park at around noon, we stopped at one of the restaurants there and had barbeque chicken sandwiches.
While we sat & ate, a couple of very brave squirrels scampered around our feet. Literally. In between our feet, around and around…
One of them got so close that Josh, who was wearing shorts, felt it brush against his leg.
Hell, we think it even tried to climb his leg! :wow: Josh says he felt two little paws touch his leg, freaking him out a little.. We were laughing our asses off.
Josh was saying the squirrels had less fear in them than our own cats do… When we stomp our foot in the general direction of our cats, they usually bolt. These squirrels though, they barely batted an eye when we stomped at them.
There were also a couple of mallard duck pairs wandering about looking for food, as well as an Ibis crane (I think that’s what it is)... I’ll try to post some more photos of those later, but I just had to put one up of one of the squirrels before we head to bed…
