I'd nearly forgotten that today is the day when the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is being shown along with LotR I & II. That is, until I saw a couple of weirdoes at the mall dressed up in LotR garb.I had an eye appointment this morning and rather than go home afterwards, only to leave within minutes of arriving to head to work, I just went to the mall near work to kill some time. I saw a lady dressed in a LotR type dress and thought it was odd. It didn't click until I saw a man/geek decked out in an elven robe, complete with the little elven leaf brooch/clasp at the neck. And wearing LotR garb underneath the robe.
A lady in the store was talking to him and I over heard him tell her that a whole bunch of people were lined up outside the movie theater all dressed up for the occasion.
I can understand dressing up for something like the Renaissance Festival, 'cause, you know, you wouldn't look out of place. Or, even a convention (like the Trekkies do). Or having a medieval themed wedding. But for a movie showing? Sorry, but I think that just makes you a weirdo.
you blink and nearly a week goes by..

Yeah, still alive here. Just haven't been inspired to post much.Posted in my "Super Secret" category.
If you don't have the password and I am familiar with you or your blog, e-mail me.
I'm a little bit behind here, but yay! They caught Saddam! It was about damned time.
Off to go start a load of laundry or something. Maybe do a little more work on Beth's little dragon. It's coming along, I just gotta get myself motivated to finish it. :o)
Mmmmm.. meat group!

I always love finding bugs in my food.
In this guys case, he was in a head of cauliflower. That had been in the bottom of our refrigerator, which was beginning to freeze (bottom of frige very cold). And it was still alive.
After I cut the piece of cauliflower it was attached to and dropped it into a bowl with the other leaves, watched some t.v. and came back to the kitchen to clean up, it had moved from where it landed in the bowl, and attached itself to the leaf shown in the picture. Hardy little fellow.
I put him outside in the backyard in a cluster of weeds since I didn't want to kill it. Granted it may have gotten chilly outside, but it survived sitting at the bottom of a fridge nearly frozen for three days, so if anything it'll become bird food rather than die of exposure.
Where shall we put it?

Evidently, we've landed ourselves a 9' Christmas tree. It's artificial, and is probably just a loaner. It belongs to Josh's dad, but it won't fit in his current house. But our house has vaulted ceilings, and I've been pining (get it, pining? Ha!) for a Christmas tree ever since we moved into our house. The only trees we have are these little 1'-2' mini-trees.I've got a few ornaments that I've been collecting & making over the last few years, but that tree is gonna be rather nekkid until I get more.
But, that will probably be a good thing, 'cause our cats will probably take the tree down more than once in their curiosity over its presence.
I have an idea of where to put it, but I can't remember how tall that part of the house is (I'm at work at the moment, so can't run out & measure). There is one other place I can think to place it if my first idea doesn't work, but the problem with that spot is I will have to move a piece of furniture as well as the cat tree. Where the cat tree is currently located, the cats climb up it and onto the 3/4 wall that separates the kitchen & the living room ('cause you know how cats love high places). And if I leave the cat tree there, I can just picture the cats diving off the wall and into the tree. Whee!!
This should make for a rather interesting holiday season. I think I'll keep a tally of how many times I walk out to find the tree flat on its face. We'll see how long it takes the cats to get bored with it. Knowing my cats, either they will ignore it, or they'll knock it down over and over again because they're short a few marbles and can't grasp the concept of "stay away!!". Heh.
eBay blues…

I think I may be experiencing my very first non-paying bidder soon. The guy did a "Buy It Now" on the mini-disc player, on Nov. 27. I've not heard hide nor hair from this guy yet, and he only has two days left (as of midnight tonight, it will be 48 hrs) before I bash him as a non-paying bidder.
I even sent a payment reminder. And he had such a good record, too.
It almost makes me wonder if something happened to the guy? Maybe he was in some sort of freak accident or something?
I guess we'll see when two more days pass, whether I hear anything from this bidder or if I end up starting to go through the motions of getting my final value fees refunded.
And I also had a bloke in the UK snap up the Sony Ericsson phone that was up for bid, without e-mailing me first to ask if I'd even consider shipping overseas. I mean, it does say in the shipping area that I would only ship to the U.S. But, I'm not adverse to trying to ship out of the country if someone asks.
Anyway, this guy ALSO has yet to make any attempt to pay, or choose which shipping method of the two I offered he wants so I can send the proper invoice. But this auction only just ended in the wee hours of Dec 1st (almost 48 hrs ago), so I will give this person the benefit of the doubt and hope that I hear back from them soon.
The other two auctions were paid for promptly and the items already shipped out (the two PDAs).
The fifth auction is almost overwith, and a guy in Sweden looks to possibly be the winner. And yes, he did write me and asked if I'd consider shipping to Sweden before he made any bids. So some people have manners. :o)
and the next item up for bid….

I listed a few electronics on eBay.. I still have one or two more things to list.I had four things listed, but the amazing thing is that I listed a Palm Tungsten T at 10:10pm, with a "Buy It Now" option. Three hours later, someone snatched that thing right up. And paid already. How's that for fast? I haven't sold many things on eBay, so I can safely say that is the fastest something I've listed has ever sold.
Nifty. I do believe that will be some Christmas spending money!
Oh, and btw... Happy Thanksgiving!

That's how I feel today, because I'm coming up to a five day weekend (which Josh is a little jealous of because he only gets a four day weekend). The gold dragon I've been working on needs one last bake and it will be done (but without a scenery base), and I'll probably set it aside to start working on a birthstone dragon that Beth has asked me to do. I'm still trying to decide whether to include a "jewel" that the dragon will be holding (or is attached somewhere on its body, or its tail is curled around, etc), in addition to modelling the color of the dragon itself after the birthstone, or if I should just do the color and that is all.
Including a gem would also give me the freedom to make the color of the dragon itself to the buyer's preference.. So, for instance, if your birthday was in April (diamond) and your favorite color was purple, you could ask for a purple dragon holding a "diamond" (but it would really be a CZ or white topaz, you know, to keep the price reasonable!).
Yeah, I think I'll open that option up. So either way, if you prefer the dragon's body color to emulate the month's birthstone, or for it to be a chosen color grasping a simulated birthstone, the options are wide open.
why can’t they just get rid of her?!
We've never really been the type to watch reality T.V. aside from COPS. We never saw the big draw of Survivor. But Animal Planet's "King of the Jungle" did pique our interest. We've been watching it every week since it started. From the start, we've wanted Kelly to get kicked off.
But she just keeps hanging on. We were so hoping that she was going to get the boot tonight. But NOooOOo..... She "survives" again. Ugh.
She just annoys me. I don't really quite know what it is exactly. But our fingers are crossed that next week she'll be gone.
loosening up that belt buckle…

This week is going to be full of turkey dinners..The first one will be tomorrow. Turkey courtesy of Josh & I, for spending over $250 at Basha's. w00t! Free turkey! Dinner prepared by Josh's grandmother (on his dad's side).
The next one will be on Turkey Day itself. Dinner prepared by Josh's mom. I hear it might be a really full house that day.
The last one will be at my parents house, probably the Saturday after T-Day. Dinner prepared by my dad.
Mmmmm... Turkey....
strange behaviour, pt 2
It's not an MT thing, 'cause other e-mails are coming to me with attachment on them, too.. It seems to be mostly plain text e-mails, the HTML ones are fine... but it's not ALL plain text e-mail, because I just sent a test message from my yahoo account and work both as plain text and they came through normally.. and it isn't specific to a particular e-mail address, because I'm getting this on two different e-mail addresses. Very odd. Will try updating Outlook to see if that gets rid of the oddity.
