comments on the presidential debate…
Mainly….
I cannot believe that Bush just stomped all over the moderator!
How fucking rude, just verbally bowling over him like that!
Dude, I think you just shot yourself in the foot.
brain = fried
And my day is maybe 2/3rds overwith.
And to illustrate how fried my brain is, I almost spelled “maybe”, like this: mabye
The week started out so good, relatively slow, then steadily got worse.
That’s just so backwards. Isn’t the week supposed to start crazy, and then wind down by Friday?
*sproing*
I think I just sprouted another gray hair.
Today has been absolutely insane at work. I think I was on the phone for nearly four solid hours this morning, between various trouble tickets.
And it’s Friday, people! Work shouldn’t be this shitty on a Friday!!
I feel the need to scream…
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I think I feel better now.
a gubernatorial pardon…
for the termites, that is. But it only lasts one week!
Last night, we found out, was only to sign the paperwork for the warranty and them set up the appointment for the deaths of the termites… Fortunately, we were able to get an appointment for next Thursday morning, which is better than what the guy was thinking it would be, and that was a two to three week wait. I think the reason he may have pushed for an earlier appointment is because of how fast those buggers are making tunnels on our wall. Seemingly overnight, nay, literally overnight, one of the tunnels doubled in size. From about 1” long, to two inches… and I think it’s still growing. Plus, the fact that there was only one when he came out to inspect on the 24th, and there are now two of them.
I should take a picture of the tunnels when I get home tonight, if nothing but to track their progress in the week we have to wait until the treatment gets done, and then from there to see how long it takes for them to die.
aaaa-chooo!
There must be dust in the air today or something. I’ve been sneezing a lot this morning, and now I sound like I have a cold, when I very likely don’t. I have border-line allergies (self-diagnosed), and they seem to crop up at the oddest of times… like now, when the pollen count isn’t even on the high side of medium (it’s 5.7 for this area)...
Of course, it could just be a particular type of pollen that gets to me, I just haven’t paid too close attention to what the counts are when I get all sneezy like this. I think that’s mostly due to it not happening very often, and only once in a long while do I get so sneezy that I reach for the Benedryl… Today isn’t one of those days, it’s just enough to annoy me.
it’s hump day…
And by that, I do mean Wednesday. Get your minds out of the gutter. :-p
It used to be, Wednesday was the start of my work week, for the longest time. One quarter, it was one of my days off. Now, it’s officially the middle of my work week, and I’m kind of sad about it. I can’t say, “yep, one more day and it’s my weekend!” anymore… ‘cause there’s still two days left. :long:
*sigh* And I have at least 11 weeks of this shift left. Bleh.
*snore*
...about the Veep debate last night.
We couldn’t even sit through 20 minutes of their back-and-forth, you’re-a-liar/no-you’re-a-liar crap.
It probably didn’t help that we TiVo’d it so we could watch it while we ate dinner, and while I went out to go get said-dinner, the radio in the truck was still set to the newsradio station, which happened to be playing the debate.. and at that point I think it was around 30 minutes into the debate… They were talking about Iraq/Afghanistan at that point, & they were still talking about that when I got back into the truck after picking up dinner. That was like, what, 40 minutes into a 90 minute debate, and they couldn’t get past Iraq/Afghanistan in less than 30 minutes?? Boooring! It was like watching the Prez debate all over again.
I gather they eventually got around to talking about other stuff, from reading other blogs that have discussed last night’s debate, but the general consensus has been, it was just plain fucking boring.
speaking of the re-fi…
I had to lay the smackdown yesterday with our broker.
He tried to pull a fast one on me. Nice try, buddy.
See, when I first called them to discuss a loan, and after he pulled our info and found a lender who would do a 115% loan (this was before we knew our house may actually appraise for higher than $165K), he told us we’d need to pay for the appraisal out of pocket. No big deal, we did that last time.
Then I decided I wanted to try and see if we could get any better deal out of our bank, W3lls .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). They were willing to wrap the loan up into one (rather than having a 1st & 2nd), but the rate would be about 10%, and we’d pay nothing out of pocket, period. We were kind of OK with the rate (one rate at 10% is better than one at 9.9% and a second at 16.5%), they pulled the stats on our neighborhood and estimated our house may appraise for as high as $192K (which is why they would wrap the two loans up into one). We even set an appointment to meet with their broker at their branch. Until I was told that they require PMI (mortgage insurance), and it would tack on $7,000 to our loan. Uh, no thanks. Especially when I went back to the first broker and he said they don’t add mortgage insurance to their loans.
I told the first broker that the deal with WF, up until the $7K PMI part, sounded good, especially since they’d even pay for the appraisal. He said, we can do that for you, too. I was like, cool! I cancelled the appointment with WF and went about gathering the info I needed to send the first broker (paystub, W2s, etc).
Then yesterday, when the appraisor called to make the appointment to come by our house and said he would need a C.O.D. for the payment, I flipped. I told him I needed to discuss the matter with the broker, and that I’d call him back to set up the appointment after I got the matter settled about the payment.
I called mr. broker and questioned him about this C.O.D. thing with the appraisor. He said, yeah, you have to pay the appraisor out of pocket. I asked if we were going to be reimbursed for it? He shuffled some papers, and said, No.
Say it with me now… wha-wha-WHAT?! So I politely lit into him. (Polite being, I didn’t scream.)
I said, first you tell us we have to pay the appraisor, then when I go to WF and find out they will pay it for us and tell you this, you agree that you can do the same thing, and now you turn around and tell me we have to pay for it? So what’s the story? Why are you suddenly changing everything around like this?
I basically cowed him into agreeing to reimburse us. It’s not a cash-in-hand reimbursement, but he said we should see a line item on the mortgage papers showing a deduction of $250, which will be the reimbursement for appraisor.
So you can be I’ll be looking for that line when it’s time to sign the papers.
their deaths won’t come soon enough…
We went ahead & decided to do the 5 year Termidor treatment for the termites. As of today, there are two exploratory tunnels on the north wall of Josh’s office. When the inspector came by on the 24th, there was only one.
Unfortunately, we’ll probably see more before they die, as it could take up to three months for the little buggers to die off.
The
exterminator comes by on Wednesday.
We figure since we’re in the process of trying to get another refinance done on our mortgages (1st & 2nd) to bring the rates down and to lower our payments, that we’ll easily be able to afford the approximate $275/mo for three months this exterminating thing is going to cost us. The appraisor just came by to do the measurments on the house, we’re hoping it’ll appraise high (there was a sale of a house similar to ours in sq. footage, in April, and it sold for $186K)... because the deal that’s on the plate is assuming the value to be at least $185K on the house, and we’ll be paying $600 less a month in mortgage payments between the two mortgages if it goes through. If the house doesn’t appraise that high (say, around $165K-$170K instead), the rate we get may be a slight bit higher (than the really good deal), but we’ll still be saving around $500 a month.
But that won’t just be free money, oh no. See, we’re just financing the mortgages (including closing costs), no credit cards or any other debt. The money we get back in hand each month with a lower mortgage payment is going to go straight to paying off our credit cards. That’s the plan, and I intend to stick to it. I’m even forgoing a new car in order to pay off the cards first. I figure I’ll use little green Saturn for as long as she’ll carry me around, and worry about possibly trading her up once the rest of the debt has been tackled. She’s paid off (from our last re-fi), so I may as well take advantage of that fact.
But I digress… this was about termites. I can only wish upon them a quick & speedy death once Termidor is doing its job. They’re creepy little fuckers.
