out of gas…
Saturday, August 16, 2003
So the Valley is suffering a gas shortage because of some pipeline between Phoenix & Tucson that has been shut down because of some rupture that happened at the end of July...
I shoulda stayed home..
I took a couple days off this week, using one of them to help my parents do some packing. The second day I took off from work, I spent at home, playing SWG mostly. When news came of that power outage on the east coast, I imagined what it must be like at work since a lot of our customers are based on the east coast, and had a good laugh because I didn't have to endure the onslaught of tickets that we would undoubtedly get as a result of the loss of power....I come to work today, and find that it had tripled our work load, and because it was taking time to get all power restored, I'd be stuck with some of that workload.
Yes indeed, karma can be a real bitch. Next time I suppose I shouldn't be so quick to laugh. Eh.. I'll probably laugh anyway. I'm sure my colleagues wouldn't hesitate to do the same if they were sitting comfortably at home whilst their co-workers were toiling away at work buried under a mountain of trouble tickets.
an ultimatum, pt 2

My sister replied to my e-mails regarding the ultimatum I gave her, to choose pot or to quit so she can be in my wedding..her response was rather vague, although it seems to hint toward "I choose my drugs"...
power outage on the east coast
Thursday, August 14, 2003
I can't imagine entire cities without power. I wonder what caused this massive power outage? I hope they get it resolved soon.. summer is a bad time for power outages, there are enough deaths due to the heat as it is without such a widespread loss of power to add to the mix. :-(
long day

...got up at 6AM (very unnatural for me) so that I could drive my parents up to Prescott so they could do some errand running in preparation for their move.. pay the deposit on their new digs, get a PO box, show me the new place (from the outside..they don't have keys yet and it was locked). While it was still fairly warm up there (around 93 degrees F), it was still better than Phoenix. Gads, at 9:00pm it was still 107 degrees according to channel 12. Yuck.
Anyway, now I'm kicking back waiting for laundry to cycle through, working on a new dragon in clay. It's been interesting trying to get this figure sculpted to fit the rocks while various pieces (claws, feet) are still uncured. I think this one is probably going to take at least a couple of months to complete, as getting it to balance on its stand is going to be tricky, to say the least. It's already somewhat off balance and it doesn't even have its wings yet. 😕
I'll post more photos later on down the line as it progresses.
blue man group
Sunday, August 10, 2003
Josh and I are going to see the Blue Man Group in concert tonight. You know, the guys with blue heads that did some Pentium commercials about a year ago? Yeah, those guys. Their show in Vegas is really neat (we've gone like four times I think), and they're touring for their new album "The Complex". On this album, Dave Matthews joins them in a song called "Sing Along". There are a few other artists who lend their voices to the Blue Man's music as well. I just think it's neat that DM did one with them.
On a side note, I've heard that occasionally some of the people who teamed up with BMG on the album make appearances at their concerts. There seems to be a conspicuous break in DMB's tour (no concerts until 8/24), so I wonder... hmm.... Guess we'll find out tonight if there are any "surprise guests". :o)
not for the faint of heart…

So as I was getting ready for work, I gathered my things (keys, purse, soda) and opened the door to the garage, looked down, and froze in my tracks.WARNING: If you are squeemish about bugs in general, or have a fear of spiders or scorpions, do not click the links to view the images. You have been warned!
Car-B-Q
I saw this on the way home from work tonight. If it's difficult to tell what that is, it is a burning car on the I-17, which I tried to snap with my camera phone while driving on the other side of the freeway.
I just hope whoever was driving this car got out ok. And yes, there was someone in that car just a mere five minutes before I passed the fireball that used to be an older model buick or monte carlo looking car. I know this because Josh had seen this same car before I did while it was just spewing black smoke from under its hood, and the driver was still IN the car, driving it down the freeway!
I'm sure I'll see a black scorch mark on the freeway on my way to work tomorrow...
ever have one of those days…
...where you feel like you worked your ass off but when you look back over your day, you really didn't do jack-shit?yeah, that about sums up my day at work. busy but not really doing much that you can show for.
i hate days like this. i feel totally drained. thank god it's time to go home.

How can someone be so cruel?Frankly I don't think jailtime is enough for people like this. This guy should be tied up behind a truck and dragged for nearly two miles. Eye for an eye, I say.
Poor little puppy. :-(
